Roman Catholic Bible Question?

I was just wondering, someone said something the other day that God considers it a sin to have with your wife when she is menstruating, because she is considered unclean and her husband will also be considered unclean for fourteen days? Apparently this is said in the Bible and I was just wondering if it's really said in the Bible and what is so unclean about menstration? Isn't it CLEANING you anyway?
