How true is the bible?

I hear you on all of that. But all of the bible was written for control of the dumbest, and continue to be used today for the same reason, yet those who believe it thousands of years ago, the OT that is and now the NT also, must be going backward instead of forward as some still are living in the time of the dark ages.
