Want to help my mom enjoy life after diagnosis of dementia (Bensons Syndrome, Lewy Bodies, CBD)?
My mother-in-law has Alzheimer's. If you make sure that your mother eats fish with omega-3 fatty acids, it will slow the progression of her dementia. It also helps to add omega-3 supplements to her diet after you check with her doctor to make sure that they don't contradict any heart mediation she is taking. In addition to the fish, add broccoli to her diet. It also aids her dementia. As for activities, music really helps. Find out the artists who were popular when your Mom was in her 20's. That's usually the happiest time of life. Then, play that music around the house. Sit with her and clap to the tunes and, if she can manage, do a little careful dancing with her. As for socialization beyond what you personal;ly can provide, get her interested in the internet. Set the type on "large" so she can see, and get her interested in a message board, or e-mailing her friends.
